Make It Happen

The supported journey that helps you realise your goals!

In the beginning it was simple.

You wanted to create, so you did.

Then at some point, it got harder.

Now it’s less clear where to start. You want to finish the work and feel good about it - create that thing, get yourself out there, just get going again.

But it feels daunting. Lack of direction, lack of progress. Lack of time, lack of self-belief. Limited energy, health challenges. Imposter syndrome, self-doubt. Self-sabotage. Procrastination. Ugh. PLUS you’re trying to make it all happen alone, while balancing other priorities. It’s enough to make anyone feel…

STUCK.

What if you had someone alongside you?

Someone who GETS it?

Who can provide space, clear guidance and direction so you can be free to finally make IT happen?

Jo Gatford - writer and editor

“Highly recommended to any creative looking for genuine, down-to-earth, inspiring support. Paul is kind, generous and always seems to know exactly what to say to help you figure out a way forward. I've always left our sessions feeling positive, encouraged and ready to tackle something new. Paul is insightful, endlessly creative, adaptable, and brings a wonderful sense of curiosity and excitement to his coaching. I often refer back to advice or exercises he's given me when I'm feeling stuck, and I can't think of any suggestions that weren't completely spot on.”

After working with me, you will…

Have more clarity and focus

You will gain clarity and focus in your creative endeavours, helping you set goals and structure your time effectively. We’ll combine practical and magical thinking to plan experiments and tasks that feel meaningful, exciting and achievable.

Exploring the connections between your creative work and your sense of self will ground everything you do in your unique values and needs, helping you overcome feelings of being directionless or overwhelmed.

Be creating what you thought was impossible

You will notice the tangible results of MAKING IT HAPPEN that comes from having motivation, encouragement and consistent accountability to keep you honest with yourself and on track.

Whether you are more project or practice focused, you will notice the biggest gains come from embracing and appreciating the process of creativity rather than solely focusing on the outcome. How you get there becomes more important as you become more open to experimentation, play, and embracing your artistic instincts.

Feel increased self-confidence

You will grow your self-confidence and trust in your creative abilities, learning to value your own expertise and instincts in your creative work.

Recognising that self-doubt is a natural part of the creative process and learning to navigate it will help to work with and overcome imposter syndrome, gaining more confidence what you create and how. Facing ‘the fear’ is part of creating something new, and you’ll see how to move past those blocks.

  • Laura Mugridge - theatremaker, performer, dramaturg & director

“Working with Paul was invaluable! Talking to him about my creative scrambled brain helped me SO much to organise my thoughts, really think about what was important to me and figure out what my next steps might be. With each session I felt a little clearer and a little more positive about my career and my practice. He is kind and he listens- the best kind of cheerleader. I feel buoyed in my practice and confident to be able to take risks. I also have more clarity in what it is that I offer. I would recommend his coaching far and wide.”

  • Anika Carpenter - flash fiction author and workshop facilitator

The mix of practical advice and emotional support Paul provided is fantastic. It meant a great deal to have advice based on experience.

I also really appreciated how natural the sessions felt. There was no jargon, just brilliant advice and thoughtful questions.

  • Alexa Radcliffe-Hart - storyteller

“Beyond the specific focus for the work Paul and I did together, I learnt so much more about myself as a writer, where and how I place myself within creativity, and how I can better meet the needs I have as a writer – something that has often come last in my priorities.”

All people face the same creative challenges

Lack of motivation, imposter syndrome, self-doubt, procrastination, directionlessness, self-sabotage. It can be frustrating and dispiriting to see you’re not getting the results you want. Over time, this inertia can lead to a sense that:

“I’m not fulling my potential”

“My ideas are going unexpressed”

“I’m not showing all that I have to offer”

One of the biggest mistakes creatives make is believing they have to go it alone.

FAQs

  • After a free introductory call where we look at your goals and what support will best work for you, we do a Creative Life Audit to understand the challenges and opportunities in getting you to where you want to be. We then create a personalised plan for our work together.

  • This is personalised support centred around you. Our sessions together are guided by your goals and needs, using my Creative Living model as a touchstone. Depending on your particular goals, we will touch at some point upon Purpose, Practice, Expression, Growth, Connections and Wholeness.

  • When my clients commit to realising big goals or making changes to their creative practice we begin a journey together. In our sessions we progress with quick wins and pursue longer-term strategies, the deeper work that takes time. Our sessions create the structure and guidance for the work to happen in between, and clients are often surprised by how far they can get in six months.

  • I have clients with longer term goals beyond our initial six sessions who choose to rebook so they can keep benefiting from support, accountability and insight. For clients who complete a package I also offer rolling regular coaching subscriptions.

  • You are creative! Whether or not you believe it, we all have a creative potential that deserves to be realised. Giving yourself permission to be creative and owning the right call yourself creative is the beginning of unleashing that potential. If it really matters to you, then we can work together.

  • All our sessions are held on Zoom, but I do also meet clients in person in Brighton & Hove where I am based. If you would prefer to meet this way then this is certainly something we can discuss.
